MULCH DAY!!!...and a senior prom ....

MULCH DAY in our house is not a popular one with the older girls!!!...our little one LOVES it....she has not crossed over to the other side yet....haha....After a LONG day at the girls crew races, we decided to get started on the giant mulch pile...the older girls got out of it, much to my dismay and their jubilation.....because they got home much later than we did from their race......new mulch always makes the yard and gardens look so fresh and new....

our eager helper!!!

Hubby taking a well deserved break...he was the mule of the operation...eager helper and I were the spreaders....

AHHHH....fresh mulch....

Mulch day turned into Sunday night....still need to finish out by the pool area....

Mom's end table redone...again....

I don't have a before photo, but this end table was a gift from my mom....she picked it up at a tag sale.  She painted it green and yellow...when we added our family room on about 10 years ago, she passed it on to me...this was one of my first projects painting and distressing furniture....it has remained one of my favorites, even after all of these years....I added a Rachell Ashwell basket for storage undrneath....love this table....painted it cream, sanded it up a bit and rubbed it with some glaze.....ahhh.....

The table has this beautiful brown glass...it looks so pretty with the cream paint and brown glaze..

The table has great lines and detail....those elements always look so great distressed.....

Once I have a piece I love, I usually don't change it or move it around...I do however change out the accessories on the top with the seasons....

I hope you like my table as much as I do....Since my mom passed away a few years ago,  it holds an extra special place in my heart....she was painting furniture before it was "the" thing to do!

I will be getting ready for my oldest daughter's senior prom on Friday...I'm hoping she will let me post some pics on here....we'll see....

Happy Wednesday!!!.........xoxo, Mariaelena

Daughter #2's Beachy Burb Bedroom.....

Hello again...finally!!!!!.(.blogger sure is having a rough time of it)...
I realized that I usually share projects I've worked on or a small part of a room...I thought today, I would share one of the girls burb house bedrooms with you....I love the beachy color she chose as well as the decor.  There are many thrifty elements in all of the girls rooms that I think you might like.  Remember, she is a 16 year old so it may not be magazine perfect, but she loves it!!!!!!!.....and, we did a big clean up in there the other day so good time for a photo shoot....hahaha.....
Happy Friday...xoxo, Mariaelena

This is her simple, thrifty, beachy style bedroom...she picked out this aqua paint...I love it with all of the white. Her embossed quilt and big colorful pillows are from Home Goods...The pictures above her bed are actually cards I picked up down the shore and framed them with chunky white frames.

This is one of the greeting cards I purchased.  They are the perfect wall hanging in those frames!!

little glass lamp purchased for $12.

Some feminine, fun accessories for all of her "stuff"...the glass jar was purchased at a tag sale...the mirror above her dresser was the original mirror in the bathroom that we took down.  My husband made a big white frame for it and it's perfect!!

The dresser was purchased last summer down by our beach house at a garage sale.  We brought it home and I gave it a fresh coat of white paint and put new hardware that my daughter picked out.  The candle sconces were purchased at a vintage home decor shop down the shore.

See..."teenage stuff"!!!!....cute cottage bookcase for a steal and not that you can see it, lol, but the cork board has a beautiful distressed frame...bought that at Home Goods  as well,
(love that place)

Daughter #2, like the rest of us, loves to collect sea shells.  She went on a trip to France this spring break and loved it..(of course)!!

Thanks for visiting and come back soon!!!!!
