Favorite home DIY yet...I'm obsessed!!!

Hi friends...this may be my FAVORITE home DIY yet...OUR NEW HALF WALL...besides the design, all of the credit this time goes to my husband...he did it all and I couldn't be happier with the result...we've been pondering the idea for years and finally took the plunge...what a difference it makes...take a look at the result...sorry for the pictorial overload...I told you I'm obsessed!!
these are pics of before from both sides...

UH OH....LOTS of wires!!!!!!

our friendly onlooker....Hudson

WOOHOOT!!!!!!!

the making of the faux column...

all trim & first coat of paint complete

LOVE the molding!!!!

He did a great job tying it into the kitchen counter...

almost 20 years in this 1963 ranch and all of the moldings my husband has added has made our house our home...

So happy we finally did it!!

  9. Visiting from Cozy Little House Tweak It Tuesday. Love the new look -- it's amazing what taking down part of a wall can do to open up space and let the light pour in. I enjoyed all the photos - I'm not a fan of "before" and "after" with no middle to show what had to be done to get from there to here! You have a beautiful home and now you've added yet another dimension to it. Congrats on a job well done!

  10. Very nice reno! Am getting ready to paint my maple cabinets too... how are yours holding up? Chipping, etc? What primer and what brand paint did you use? Anything you would have done differently? TIA - Amy

    1. Hi Amy...thanks for coming by and commenting...Our cabinets are a few years painted now and as I write this I have a paint bucket ready for some touch ups but just minor little marks...It held up better than I thought...we primed with Zinzer and then painted with Sherwin Williams door/cabinet paint...If you go to the post, you'll see how we did it. If you have any more questions, please email me...ulli1967@yahoo.com
