SEEKING ADVICE…to paint or not to paint…that is the question???

Hi friends…
I need your advice…for quite a while now I've been trying to decide if I should paint our master bedroom furniture…so the other day I took the plunge and painted one night stand to see how I liked it.  Well, I do like it, but now trying to decide if I should paint all of the pieces or leave some the way they are…I'm leaning toward painting it all but looking for your thoughts….
Take a look and see what you think…
I will be painting the walls and changing out the textiles in the room either way.

HERE'S THE AFTER….

 AND THE BEFORE…..

THIS IS THE WAY I'M GOING WITH PAINT AND FABRICS…..Thanks friends…I look forward to & appreciate your feed back!!

xo, Mariaelena

  1. Love the nightstand & all the swatches..
I would do the dresser and/or the bed in a different color, maybe the gray/greige color...
Love what you have going on though!!

  3. The night stand looks great painted! Love your swatches, but I'd go light on the walls...Popular Gray or lighter.
    Good luck!

  7. Love the painted version! And the fabrics. I am not a fan at all of the "before" look. A little too "orangey" wood. I would paint it all!

  8. I LOVE the way your painted piece looks. From my perspective, which is totally my opinion - dark walnut, weathered gray wood, and non-red or orange shades of deep wood colors look best with neutral decor. I like a bit of contrast, and the wood adds a "masculine" element that some all-white rooms do not have. The all white rooms can be very feminine, which works for some people. I like to add a variety of different whites, maybe some camel and taupe, iron, dark wood, rusty things, heavy texture, natural baskets, etc. to add texture, interest and a bit of equality. :) Love the direction your room is taking!

    1. I totally agree with what you are saying about the wood/white mix…that's what is holding me from painting it all but as of this morning and some more advice on paint mixing, I've decided to do the larger pieces in a greige paint that I'm going to mix with AS old white…then some glaze for texture…going to now paint the walls a lighter color instead of the greige on the walls…and already have piles of great accessories to add in there once I'm done…heading out of this tundra for a short vacation and once I'm back going to get to it!…thanks so much for your advice…so appreciate it!…xo, Mariaelena

  9. I love the painted piece--I always say paint :) I love the colors you are working with--I love pastels but am drawn to neutrals too. I just repainted my coffee table in a neutral color and I am loving it!
